Ylia (Susana Hernández) is a musician, sound artist and dj. She came of age DJing breakbeat raves in Andalucia in the early 2000’s while studying classical piano at the conservatory, and then moved to Barcelona to study a degree on Arrangements and composition in Modern music at Taller de Musics, Barcelona.

Her dexterous and ever reliable live performances and sets interchange between diverse genres, sometimes ambient and experimental, other times more direct and dance floor friendly, all the way from broken beats to techno, acid, ghetto, always down for genre-bending sonic ventures. Her unique approach to sound has made her a regular feature at clubs and festivals across Spain, such as Mutek, MIRA, Sónar; as well as performing at international festivals like Transmusicales (Rennes), Sónar Hong Kong and DGTL, among others.

Her  last album ‘Ame Agaru’ was released on Balmat label, following her debut solo album ‘Dulce Rendición’ at Paralaxe Editions (Barcelona, 2020) and some singles on Hivern, Lapsus and Super Utu.

Her work includes composing for dance, theatre and film, radio hostess (La Guarida, Dublab.es), label owner (Animah records), and music teacher (IED, The Bass Valley).

She also works on various collaborative projects: People You May Know, a duo with Phran with hardware live sets blending electro, rave and dub; Fantasma Sur, an audiovisual band formed by Isaki Lacuesta (film maker, guitarist), Alondra Bentley (singer, guitarist), and Albert Coma (visualist); and Bola de Desierto, a duo with Darío del Moral (bassist, drummer and guitarist, member of Pony Bravo and Fiera).

She is a member of experimental flamenco singer Niño de Elche’s touring band, performing keyboards and electronics.
